How to Teach Your Child to Read Alphabet


Learning the alphabet is a milestone for Your child.

         Most child begin recognizing some letters between the ages of 2 and 3 and can identify most letters between 4 and 5. This means that you can start teaching your child the alphabet . What's more, toddlers learn differently from older children, so don't pull out the flashcards.

         There are so many different "methods" and "programs" out there on the best way to teach child the letters. Each child will learn and answer differently. Some will pick up very quickly with minimum exposure and others will need multiple exposures before they have learning.You should know when your child is ready to start learning more about letters by them showing interest. Asking what a letter is, what sound a letter makes, pointing out letters, recognising particular letters.

         The first step in teaching the alphabet is getting your child interested in listening to stories. At around age 2 or 3, child who are frequently read to get the idea that books contain print, which is made up of letters.

        Your Child will  be singing the alphabet song repeatedly, calling out letters when child spots them or even scribbling them on the walls. Start introducing alphabet activities before preschool or kindergarten so he’ll be well-prepared when schools comes.

        You can also teach alphabet letters and letter sounds by using an Alphabet Chart with pictures. Be sure to point to each letter as you are saying the letter name and letter sound. Review the alphabet chart once a day and pretty soon your child will be able to point to each letter and say the sounds himself. You have an alphabet chart, tacked on the wall at child height of Your Child bedroom so child  can look at it.

Teach the upper case as well as the lower case letters of the alphabet.


       Have you noticed that nearly all ABC books for young children teach uppercase letters first? Yet capital letters account for only five percent of all letters in written English. Therefore, pay more attention to teaching the lower case letters. Lower case letters are far more important in developing reading skills.So teach the upper case as well as the lower case letters of the alphabet.

      Teaching the child of the alphabet letters may be the simple step of introducing easy reading. But just before they will have the ability to do that, they will need to learn and distinguish the upper case and also the lower case letters of the alphabet..In how to teach a child to read, memorization of the alphabet letters is very important in addition to distinguishing of the letters.

Tips for Teaching alphabet letters.

        - Teach letter names before children learn the sounds with which they are associated. Teach the child the alphabet song and sing it daily. Point to the letters of the alphabet as you sing the song with the child. 

         - Provide the letters in different forms: printed on cards, cut out from pieces of fabric, especially felt or fuzzy materials, or cut out from materials such as sandpaper.

         - Children can learn and practice their alphabet recognition skills while playing and enjoying with ABCD puzzle. 

         -Teach Letter with one or two association,For Example 
              A is for Apple,Ant, Airplane,.
              B is for Ball,Bat,Balloon,.... 
              C is for Cat,Car,Cartoons, ......
              And So on.
